It’s not uncommon for conspiracy theorists to offer an array of alternate explanations in the wake of highly publicized tragedies, and the Boston Marathon bombings are no exception. I love a good conspiracy myself but for some reason I don’t see it when it comes to this incident. I do not believe for a second that there is any conspiracy involved with this tragedy, and my prayers go out to all victims of terror attacks. The real issue behind all these conspiracy theories is not being addressed by anyone.

These theories gain foothold because of an alarming increase in the levels of distrust for our government and its mainstream media machine. The notion that we are being lied to by our government and our media is not all that difficult to believe, and most everyone believes that to one degree or another. That fact, added to an increase in the number of people believing that we are being lied to consistently by both the media and the government, give conspiracy theories solid ground to stand on. Simply stated, a lot of people are willing to entertain conspiracy theories because they are already convinced that our government lies to us, and that the media is an accessory to those lies.

The two brothers suspected of bombing the Boston Marathon appear to have been motivated by their religious faith but do not seem connected to any Muslim terrorist groups, U.S. officials said Monday after interrogating the severely wounded younger man. He was charged with federal crimes that could bring the death penalty.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, was charged in his hospital room with using a weapon of mass destruction to kill. He was accused of joining with his older brother, Tamerlan — now dead — in setting off the pressure-cooker bombs that killed three people and wounded more than 200 a week ago.

I have two questions for you family! Do you believe that there is a conspiracy afoot and does this accused terrorist deserve to be put to death if convicted?
